The first final of the first day of the last grand prix of 2025 featured two European judoka, Laura Espadinha (FRA) and Eva Perez Soler (ESP). Perez Soler won the first score from a counter, a small movement but enough to offer her the lead. A little while later she scored again, a ko-soto-gari delivering a second yuko.

She then went on the defensive and picked up two very fast penalties for negativity and almost took a third but was saved by the bell. It was gold for Perez Soler and silver for Espadinha.

In the first fight for a bronze medal Andrea Stojadinov (SRB) faced Chen-Hao Lin (TPE). Both athletes used seoi-otoshi attacks frequently but neither could score with them. Lin was more robust with her movement and this led to the Serbian judoka being penalised twice but as the time ticked over into golden score, Stojadinov changed tactic and threw her opponent with yoko-gake; the medal was hers!

Hunting for the last medal were Giulia Ghiglione (ITA) and Lois Petit (BEL) and it remained even until the Italian attacked with an uncommitted seoi-otoshi halfway through the third minute. Petit felt her chance was in front of her and countered with a te-waza that scored ippon. This is Lois Petit’s first medal at a grand prix.
