Final
Daniel Cargnin (BRA) vs Dayyan Boulemtafes (FRA)
Against the world and Olympic medallist, Dayyan Boulemtafes once again faced a tough and experienced opponent. True to the approach that had carried him through the day, he stayed calm, confident and unafraid to attack, launching varied movements in several directions. Cargnin, less active, received a first shido with under a minute to go and soon after received a second for a gripping infringement. The Brazilian was under heavy pressure. Yet, with only seconds remaining on the clock, he produced a sharp action–reaction sequence to score a yuko. It was a narrow escape but enough to secure his first grand prix gold medal with a superb silver going to Dayyan Boulemtafes, who had the contest firmly in his grasp until the end.
Bronze Medal Contests
Nils Stump (SUI) vs Leonardo Valeriani (ITA)
Nils Stump relied on his experience to control the contest. After a cautious opening half, the 2023 world champion launched a clean uchi-mata for waza-ari, immediately transitioning into osae-komi for ippon. The Swiss judoka claimed the bronze medal at the Lima Grand Prix 2025.
Chusniddin Karimov (CZE) vs Irakli Goginashvili (GBR)
Karimov opened aggressively, scoring yuko within fifteen seconds and doubling the lead moments later. The contest remained one-sided as Goginashvili was unable to find a way through the Czech judoka’s solid defence. Karimov closed the contest in style with a sutemi-waza for ippon, earning his second grand prix bronze medal.
