The four-day judo competition runs from 29 August to 1 September and features 230 judoka from 33 nations including Olympic and world champions.
Streaming will only be available to Europe, Sub-Saharan Africa and non-Spanish speaking American countries. The mixed team event will not be broadcast on the Olympic Channel.
Japan’s team includes Olympic champions Ono Shohei (-73kg) and Baker Mashu (-90kg) along with Olympic bronze medallist and former world champion Kondo Ami (-48kg) as the All Japan Judo Federation have picked a 14-strong team specifically for the Asian Games.
South Korea have picked a 14-strong team with nine of them also receiving the nod for the World Championships next month. The men’s team of former junior world silver medallist Lee Harim (-60kg), Olympic silver medallist An Baul (-66kg), double world bronze medallist An Changrim (-73kg), Paris Grand Slam silver medallist Lee Seungsu (-81kg), Olympic bronze medallist and former world champion Gwak Donghan (-90kg), Tokyo Grand Slam winner Cho Guham (-100kg) and former world bronze medallist Kim Sungmin (+100kg) will pull double duty as they go for gold at the Asian Games and the World Championships in back-to-back events.
In contrast to their male counterparts Olympic silver medallist Jeong Bokyeong (-48kg), two-time World Judo Masters medallist Kim Jandi (-57kg) and former world bronze medallist Kim Seongyeon (-70kg) will only compete in Jakarta.
Mongolia have sent an 18-strong team to the Asian Games including world champion Dorjsuren Sumiya (57kg), former world champion Munkhbat Urantsetseg (-48kg) and former world silver medallist Dashdavaa Amartuvshin (-60kg).
Iran call on world number one Saeid Mollaei (-81kg) and 10-time Grand Prix medallist Javad Mahjoub (+100kg) while Uzbekistan will hand a start to Olympic and world bronze medallist Diyorbek Urozboev (-60kg).
Kazakhstan have picked 15 judoka including former world champion Yeldos Smetov (-60kg) and Olympic and world bronze medallist Otgontsetseg Galbadrakh (-48kg).
