From 1st September 2024, the IJF enforced the ‘IJF Coach Licence’ system, whereby only coaches who have completed training in the standardised EQF Level 5 requirements system can be accredited for all senior international competitions organised by the IJF.
The Hungarian Judo Association (HJA), in co-operation with the IJF Academy, decided the IJF Coach Licence qualification will be included in the requirements for the HJA level 5 ‘Sports Coach (in judo)’ qualification as a condition for passing the final examination in summer 2023.
The present agreement, signed on Thursday 24th October, aims to develop procedures for the implementation of the Academy's Undergraduate Certificate as Judo Instructor (UCJI) education programme for students enrolled in the Judo Bachelor of Science in Coaching Programme (BSc) offered by the university.
The delegation consisted of HJA’s President Dr Laszlo Toth, who is also IJF Vice-President, HJA Vice-President Dr Antal Kovacs, HJA Vice-President for Communications and Marketing Dr Adam Demen, Head of the IJF Academy Dr Tibor Kozsla, IJF Academy Chair Envic Galea, IJF Academy Sports Director Florin Daniel Lascau and IJF Academy Education Director Dr Slavisa Bradic. They were received by TF’s Rector Professor Tamas Sterbenz and head of the department of combat sports, Dr Endre Nemeth.
Rector Tamas Sterbenz reminded the audience that they had signed a co-operation agreement that would greatly determine the future of the university. Envic Galea described the event as historic and stressed that TF representatives are reliable, and co-operative partners. He added that in the future they would like to expand the possibilities for co-operation with the TF, which has an excellent infrastructure.
Dr Laszlo Toth considered it a great honour that the Hungarian Judo Association could be part of this co-operation, pointing out that the university and the Academy have played a significant role in the development of the sport through the co-operation between the Academy and the university.
Dr Endre Nemeth pointed out that the IJF Academy UCJI course had been included in TF’s BSc judo training programme.
