Meet Ayo – the Official Dakar 2026 Mascot
Ayo, the official mascot of Dakar 2026, was unveiled today. Ayo is a young lion symbolising the joy, energy and pride of Senegalese youth. Its name means “joy” in Yoruba, one of the most widely spoken languages in West Africa, reflecting the spirit of celebration and unity that defines the Youth Olympic Games. Ayo wears a traditional Fulani Tingandé hat, representing wisdom, dignity and a deep connection to rural life and heritage. Playful yet wise, Ayo embodies the values of the Games: friendship, respect and excellence.
