In the -60kg category, Taiki Nakamura (JPN), second in Baku in February and winner of last year's Tokyo Grand Slam, won ahead of Yung Wei Yang (TPE), silver medallist at the Tokyo Olympic Games. Tajikistan, preparing to host its grand slam in a week from now, placed one athlete on the podium with Muhammadsoleh Quvatov, while Kazakhstan completed the podium with Sherzod Davlatov (KAZ).
In the -66 kg men's category, Ryoma Tanaka (JPN), second in Baku in February and third at the Tokyo Grand Slam 2024, dominated Uzbek judoka Zamohshari Bekmurodov (UZB), a finalist at the last OTP Group Tashkent Grand Slam 2025. The two bronze medals went to Tajikistan thanks to the performances of Nurali Emomali and Obid Dzhebov.
In the women's super lightweight category, Hikari Yoshioka (JPN), two-time world champion, in the cadet (2019) and junior (2022) age divisions, made the biggest impression by winning the gold medal against Xinran Hui (CHN). The first bronze medal went to Su Song Jon (PRK), while the second went to Kazakhstan thanks to Galiya Tynbayeva.
Finally, Kokoro Fujishiro (JPN), a two-time grand slam silver medallist on the World Judo Tour, won the -52kg category, completing a perfect run for Japanese judoka on the first day of competition. The silver medal went to Khorloodoi Bishrelt (UAE), who put in a very strong performance. Yuanli Zhang (CHN) and Seyun Jang (KOR) completed the podium.
