The third day of the World Judo Championships Veterans 2026 brought another full programme of committed competition to Hotel Hills’ arena, as the M5 and M6 categories took to the tatami in Sarajevo.

Across fourteen weight categories, the day reflected the depth and reach of veterans judo. Titles and podium places were shared among nations from across Europe, Asia and the Americas, confirming that the championships are a meeting point for a truly international community. The results showed not only the competitive strength of the field but also the diversity of judo pathways represented in Sarajevo.

Each contest carried the same distinctive character that has defined the event since the opening day: a strong desire to win, technical knowledge accumulated over many years and an evident respect between opponents. The judoka competing in the M5 and M6 age brackets brought experience to every stage of the day, from the first warm-up to the final bow.

There is a particular intensity at veteran competitions. The athletes know the demands of the contest and understand their own preparation. They arrive with a clear purpose, supported by clubs, training partners, families and national teams. On the tatami, that preparation finds its expression in a determined effort to perform at their best.

As the championships progress, the atmosphere around the arena continues to build. Results matter but so do the conversations between delegations, the reunions between long-standing friends and the shared enjoyment of being part of an event that brings so many generations of judoka together.

There is still much to come in Sarajevo. On Wednesday, the M7, M8 and M9 categories will take centre stage for the fourth day of competition. Their presence will provide another powerful reminder that the judo journey does not end with a single generation or a single competitive chapter.
