As Para-sport continues to gain momentum all over the world, continental events often have low numbers of athletes but those athletes are the pioneers, those willing to try, paving the road to a more inclusive future for everyone. These events are important and the participation figures show a clear increase over time.
In Sao Paolo, 8 countries entered their best visually impaired judoka to fight for medals and gain hard-earned experience. Paralympic and IBSA world medallists gave their best and encouraged those just starting their sporting journey in this field to do the same; more newcomers arrive on the circuit each year.
