At -100 kg there were a number of powerful performances through the morning session of the third day in Tashkent. Reaching the final block wasn’t easy for anyone.
Bronze medal contest, Ernazar Sarsenbaev (UZB) vs Nozomu Miki (JPN)

Ernazar Sarsenbaev (UZB) faced Nozomu Miki (JPN) for the first medal of the category. Neither was willing to open up and commit for fear of being countered and giving away their chance to be on the podium. It became a highly tactical match until 2 minutes into the golden score period when Sarsenbaev finally made space to throw with his seoi-otoshi, catching Miki for a yuko. Sarsenbaev has his first grand slam medal.

Bronze medal contest, Dzhakhongir Madzhidov (TJK) vs Ivan Silva Morales Felipe (CUB)

Dzhakhongir Madzhidov (TJK) and Ivan Filipe Silva Morales (CUB) fought for the second bronze medal. There was a lot of action but none of it pointed to a clear winner until Silva Morales made space on the floor. He held his opponent for the required 15 seconds after scoring an initial waza-ari from a counter-attack to claim his first World Judo Tour medal in his new weight category, adding to the 10 grand slam medals he has at -90 kg.

Final, Matvey Kanikovskiy (IJF) and Adam Sangariev (IJF)

In the final, Matvey Kanikovskiy (IJF) used less than half the allotted time to tie up Adam Sangariev (IJF) on the ground. It was an accomplished display of ne-waza, earning him the fifth grand slam gold medal of his career so far.
