On this second day of competition at the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam 2024, four more categories were in action. The women were the -63 kg and the -70 kg divisions, while for the men it was the -73 kg and the -81 kg that shared the laurels.

Throughout the day, the public in the venue and the viewers present in front of their computer screens or their television were able to attend a very high-level show. We had on the tatami world champions and world medalists, as well as participants from the last Olympic Games. We also had all those who see in the start of a new cycle, a great opportunity to win valuable points and places on the ranking list.

We saw yesterday that there is room to climb the ladder of international sport. There is no doubt that the experience gained in Abu Dhabi will be very useful in the weeks and months to come.

Makhmadbek Makhmadbekov (UAE) and the President of the U.A.E. Judo Federation, H.E Mohamed Bin Thaaloob Alderei

In the presence of many personalities, including the President of the International Judo Federation, Mr Marius Vizer, and the President of the U.A.E. Judo Federation, H.E Mohamed Bin Thaaloob Alderei, the four gold medalists of the day were: Manon Deketer (FRA), Makhmadbek Makhmadbekov (UAE), Margit De Voogd (NED) and Zelim Tckaev (AZE).

After two days of competition, we find on top of the medal table the host country with two gold medals. Today it was the turn of Makhmadbek Makhmadbekov to win the title following the footsteps of his teammate, Khorloodoi Bishrelt, who won on day 1. This is a fantastic achievement for the the U.A.E. Judo Federation before the start of day 3, which will feature five more categories. The preliminaries will start at 11:30 am local time and the final block at 17:00.
