In the -70 kg category, the logic of day 1 was respected; Utana Terada (JPN) and Mayu Honda (JPN) found themselves face to face in the final, leaving no other nation the opportunity to win the gold medal.
Final, Utana Terada (JPN) vs Mayu Honda (JPN)

In the final, after a four minute round of observation, the golden score period started, Terada having two shido to her name, while Honda had only one. The contest went on and on for more than 5 minutes until Honda scored a massive ippon with a perfectly timed ashi-waza that left no chance to her opponent.
