Final
Johan Silot (USA) vs Mihajlo Simin (SRB)
It took until the halfway point of the contest for Mihajlo Simin to open the scoring with an ippon-ko-uchi-gari for a yuko. Energised by that advantage, he continued to press on the ground, freeing his leg after some clever groundwork to secure a first waza-ari hold, which he followed up seconds later with another for the win. A powerful and composed display earned the Serbian junior his first grand prix gold medal.
Bronze Medal Contests
Eetu Ihanamaki (FIN) vs Gabriel Falcao (BRA)
This was the first contest of the final block to reach golden score, with neither judoka managing to step forward during normal time. After a minute of extra time, each carried two shido, making the next penalty or score decisive. More than four additional minutes passed before Gabriel Falcao finally broke the deadlock, throwing with a last-ditch ura-nage that sent Ihanamaki to the mat. The Finnish judoka came close but Falcao’s precision and determination secured him the bronze medal.
Mykhailo Svidrak (UKR) vs Omar Rajabli (AZE)
Omar Rajabli, under pressure after receiving two penalties, had no choice but to attack in the final thirty seconds. He did so convincingly, launching a strong bearhug that brought Svidrak down for ippon, a bold and committed effort that earned him a place on the podium.
