The last day of competition at the Qazaqstan Barysy Grand Slam was a success on every level. From medals for the Kazakh team to a celebration of Kazakhstan’s Olympic stars and event organisers, everything went perfectly.

From the beginning of day one the welcome has been heartfelt, every guest to the country being treated with respect. Friendship and development have been at the centre of everything the federation have tackled.

The Qazaqstan Barysy Grand Slam is a celebration of judo and friendship.

In a small ceremony organised by the Kazakhstan Judo Federation during the break between the preliminaries and the final block. The announcer said, “This grand slam is the final tournament of the series held in Kazakhstan this year and we invite the organising committee, which has worked together over the past four years, onto the stage.”

The team arrived led by officals of the Kazakstan Judo Federation, Kuanyshbek Yessekeyev, for a commemorative photo, during which the announcer continued, “This is the moment to send words of thanks to you all. We now invite all fans and judo enthusiasts to attend the 2027 World Judo Championships in Astana.” With this experienced team, it promises to be a fantastic edition of the International Judo Federation’s flagship event.

The last final block of the 2026 edition of Kazakhstan’s grand slam was then underway, leading to the close of the pre-qualification period. Los Angeles is now in everyone’s sights, every ranking point earned in Astana vital on the road to Olympic qualification.
