The IJF has already established its own framework governing the participation of eligible Russian athletes in international judo competitions. Approved by the IJF Executive Committee on 27th November 2025, it ensures sporting integrity, fair competition and respect for the fundamental principles of the Olympic Movement.
The IJF remains committed to protecting the integrity of its competitions while ensuring that all eligible athletes can compete fairly. Consistent with the IOC’s position, the federation believes that athletes should not be discriminated against solely on the basis of their nationality, while participation in international sport must always respect the values of Olympism.
The federation further notes the IOC’s emphasis on robust anti-doping requirements for Russian athletes returning to international competition. The IJF will continue to work closely with the International Testing Agency (ITA) and the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) to ensure the highest standards of clean sport.
The IJF remains committed to promoting judo as a sport that fosters mutual respect, friendship and peace while ensuring fair and safe competition for all athletes.
