Message from the IJF President, Mr Marius Vizer, on the occasion of the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace.

Dear Judo Family

Every year on 6th April, the international sports world comes together to celebrate the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace (IDSDP), symbolised by the white card campaign. And, as with every year, the entire Judo Family joins on this day through all its members.

Under the auspices of the United Nations, the IDSDP recognises the power of sport to foster positive change, overcome barriers and transcend borders. In 2025, the theme is ‘Levelling the Playing Field: Sport for Social Inclusion.

Through its activities, the IJF has been at the forefront of peace education and peace development for many years. The Judo for Peace programme and the support of refugees throughout the world, as well as the participation of the refugee team in our events and at the Olympic Games prove that thanks to sport and especially to judo we can have a positive impact on society.

I would like to thank everyone who is involved, from the local to the international level, for their dedication to promoting peace, friendship and unity. I want to encourage them to keep promoting and upholding our values, which are more important than ever. Judo has the power to unite us and to change lives in a positive and meaningful way. It is an extraordinary educational tool for social inclusion, without discrimination. Judo brings hope, creates opportunities and fosters peace.

I wish you all a happy International Day of Sport for Development and Peace and don’t forget to raise your white card!

Marius L. Vizer

IJF President
