The IBSA judo movement has been growing fast in recent years, with participant numbers rising across all continents. The Paris Paralympic Games in 2024 highlighted the extraordinary power of VI judo as a vehicle for unity, shared success and mutual benefit.

The 2025 IBSA World Judo Championships was held in Astana, Kazakhstan, in May and was a clear indication of momentum, not only for a number of doubly successful athletes but also for the local organisers and the travelling IBSA judo staff, all of whom saw the continued growth and the steadily rising level of performance.

The 2025 IBSA Asian Championships is now in its final stages of preparation, with the Asian nations managing their travel arrangements ahead of next week’s classification days. Again, Astana will be the destination and this means the event is in very safe hands.

J1 (blind) and J2 (visually impaired) judoka, both men and women, will travel from every corner of Asia in search of new IBSA continental titles, new experiences and new connections that will carry them forward in this important Los Angeles Paralympic cycle.
