While preparations for the International Judo Federation's elective congress are underway, due to take place in the Hungarian capital on Wednesday 11th June 2025, the Executive Committee met today for the last time in its current configuration. From tomorrow, following a vote by member countries, a new IJF Executive Committee will be in place for the next four years.

This was an opportunity for President Marius Vizer to address a few warm words to all the committee members. "It's a pleasure to see you again. The last four years have been a long period of hard work to help with the promotion and development of all judo activities.

Thank you to all of you for judo’s progress. I wish you good luck and a lot of success in your present and future endeavors. I hope that all of you will stay close and loyal to our sport. Once again I thank you for your time, implication and energy. I am sure that the next four years will be successful as well, having in mind the next Olympic Games in Los Angeles.

Today judo is one of the most united sports. I wish you a good IJF Congress and an excellent world championships."

Following Mr Vizer's introduction, the Executive Committee reviewed various topics relevant to the development of judo worldwide: education, the Athletes' Commission, refereeing, sport, gender equality, the scientific journal, the grading system, and kata.

In conclusion, Mr Vizer thanked Dr Laszlo Toth and his team for the great support they provided during the preparation of the coming events.

Then Dr Laszlo Toth, president of the European Judo Union and vice-president of the IJF, in his capacity as president of the Hungarian Judo Association and therefore of the world championships organising committee, addressed the meeting, "It's team work! I want to praise our mutual trust in our joined project. It's an historic moment for all of us as we will organise this third world championships in Budapest, as well as the congress. We have had a fantastic collaboration and co-operation with the IJF which makes me say that it will be a great success."
