During her opening remarks, Dr Lisa Allan, IJF Secretary General, said, "On behalf of President Marius Vizer and the International Judo Federation, we would like to express our gratitude to the President of the Turkish Judo Federation Mr Sezer Huysuz and his team for organising this technical seminar in Turkiye.

Dr Lisa Allan

Following the Paris 2024 Olympic Games we have had a busy period of reporting, reflecting, rethinking and reviewing and we appreciate those national federations and other judo stakeholders who sent us their feedback on how we could improve the sport and organisation rules for the next Olympic cycle which will finish in Los Angeles in 2028.

To evolve and stay relevant, we must adapt the rules to meet the expectations of new generations. Writing new rules is just the beginning of creating meaningful change. The real impact comes from putting them into action. It’s our collective responsibility to ensure that our athletes, referees, coaches and officials are equipped with the knowledge and training they need to fully understand and embrace these rule changes. By uniting, educating, supporting one another and committing to improvement and progress, we can pave the way for a stronger, more dynamic future for our beautiful sport.

This weekend my colleagues from the IJF Education, Refereeing and Sport Commissions will share with you the new changes which will be used from 1st January 2025 until mid-June when, after the World Championships Seniors they will be reviewed.

I thank you all in advance for your valuable contribution and commitment to our judo family, enjoy the seminar and thank you."
