Today the draw took place in the Saudi capital in the presence of coaches, referees and officials from the IJF, the Saudi Judo Federation and the organising committee.
Dr Lisa Allan, IJF Secretary General, after introducing the guests, said, “Dear judo family, it is a pleasure to welcome you all to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia for the World Combat Games 2023. On behalf of our President, Mr Marius Vizer, and the entire judo family, we appreciate your presence.
Thank you to SportAccord, to the local organising committee and the KSA Judo Federation for all their efforts organising this event. It’s a beginning for a new event and we hope there will be many more.”
Dr. Abdulaziz Albassam, President of the KSA Judo Federation declared, “Welcome to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. We want to see you more often.
Thank you to the IJF for its commitment and its support. Judo is a united force and together we are building an avenue for growing judo in KSA and in the region.

Mr Teodor Pop, the IJF technical delegate for the event, gave all the useful information to the delegations. The competition will begin at 12:00, with preliminary rounds on two tatami; the final block from 18:00 on one tatami.
Mr Jeon Ki-Young, IJF Head Refereeing Director underlined that a selection of the best referees in the world were brought to Riyadh, before Mr Skander Hachicha, IJF Sport Director, conducted the actual draw of the competition.
