Scores of clubs around Europe have Koksijde on their calendar every year as the guarantee of partners and the perfect location, near the beach, make it an attractive prospect; more than 30 years of history are the evidence of its success.
Another feature of the camp is its format, 3 days of strong sessions, randori based, but with a guest coach for at least one session, to deliver interesting details. This year it’s Matthias Casse, Belgium’s own world champion and Olympic medallist. Dirk Van Tichelt is often in attendance and for a recent edition, Jimmy Pedro and Travis Stevens were at the helm. The star of the show though is always the mat time, the focus is the collecting of randori minutes.
The 2025 Koksijde camp has 550 participants from Germany, Netherlands, the UK, France, Belgium and even a few judoka from Poland, Israel and Ukraine, travelling with their international clubs.
The world tours are due to begin in only a few weeks time, cadets in Italy, juniors in Bosnia and seniors Slovenia and Paris and, of course, before them is also the incredible Mittersill camp in Austria, another mainstay on the calendar. The year is beginning at a pace for the majority and it’s certain that it will pay off. Great work from the Koksijde team!
