IJF President Mr. Marius Vizer delivered a welcome speech with a clear and firm message to continue working together for the betterment of society by using sport as a vehicle for development and as a token of friendship, unity and peace.
The IJF President addressed his opening message to His Excellency Sheikh Joaan Bin Hamad Al-Thani, World Judo Championships - Doha 2023 Chairman, Qatar Olympic Committee President and Association of National Olympic Committees Senior Vice President, the media, sponsors and the judo family.
As a country known for its innovation, digitalisation, new technologies, sport, culture and non-discrimination, Qatar is now one of the biggest organisers of global sports events. The investment in sport and education is the most efficient engine for unity, friendship and peace.
The IJF President thanked Qatar for the organisation of the World Championships and for all its support for the promotion of judo. "I hope these championships will be the best promotion of Qatar's achievements, excelling as a modern society but inspired by their own history, tradition, culture and with great potential to organise a successful Olympic Games in the future. The ultimate message of this event is a message of peace to the world."
His Excellency Sheikh Joaan Bin Hamad Al-Thani thanked Mr Vizer and all delegates for their attendance and support of this World Championships and the Congress.
