Kyle Jones at his home dojo in South Wales
Jones, 18, who trains out of the Dragon School of Combat's permanent dojo at Pontarddulais Judo Club, only started judo two years ago after being bullied in school.
The Welshman was introduced to the sport by his mother who was a former judoka and judo has been able to positively channel his energy.
Jones was soon on the competition pathway and won the SN Hampshire Open, bronze at the SN British Open two years in a row and took gold at the SN British Schools event.
After winning a world silver medal in Germany Jones said: "I am chuffed to bits to win this medal. I can't wait to do it all again in 2019 in the next edition. I would like to compete at the Special Olympics: 2019 World Summer Games in Abu Dhabi, U.A.E."
Pontarddulais Judo Club are currently looking for new sponsors. For more information contact [email protected]
