In front of an audience as warm and enthusiastic as ever, 120 judoka were entered in the -81 kg, -70 kg and -90 kg categories, more than enough to offer all judo fans an exceptional show.
We will remember the return of Georgia to the forefront, thanks to Luka Javakhishvili, winner in the -81 kg category, and who perpetuates a beautiful tradition of committed competitors who never give up, a judoka who will have to be counted on in the years to come.
In the women's division, the Austrian Elena Dengg had good cards to play, as did the Swiss April Lynn Fohouo. Neither had to be told twice to attack, to stay determined, to aim for the win; the two young women found themselves in the final ahead of a great victory for Dengg and the Austrian judo school.
In all this, the Japanese of the day were missing and after the premature eliminations of several of them, it was finally Komei Kawabata who added a sixth gold medal to Japan's purse, demonstrating great mastery against his opponents throughout the day.
For the last day of individual competition it will be the turn of the heavy categories to be in action. Continue to follow the Dushanbe World Championships Juniors 2024 on all our social media channels and on JudoTV.
