Mohamed Meridja, IJF Education and Coaching Director, present in Las Vegas, took a close look at everything that happened over the first three days. "We saw a lot of beautiful contests, with a lot of commitment and will to win. What really struck me, however, was the overall behaviour of all the participants, which is truly exemplary, very respectful. The behaviour of the veteran judoka and their level of judo education is very high and it shows. They are all examples to others. We have seen competitors of all generations and whether they win or lose, they demonstrate that the main thing is to have fun and enjoy the moment. I saw participants who were simply happy to be there.
I sincerely believe that a competition such as this world championships helps build bridges between generations, between the practice of the very high level as seen on the World Judo Tour and the mass practice.
I do not forget that many of the judoka present in Las Vegas are above all teachers in their respective clubs. They are transmission belts between the international level and the work that is done daily in the clubs. That's why this championship is so important for the whole judo family. All these champions will go home and pass on what they have learned here to their students. It's really very important and we must continue to support the development of judo for veterans."
Today it was Brazil (5), Mongolia, Serbia, France (2), USA, New Caledonia, Great Britain, Canada and Georgia who shone by winning gold.
The last day of competition will see the entry into the competition of the women (F 1-9) while the M2 men will also be in action. Follow all the news of the championships on our communication platforms and the live stream on JudoTV
