Hilal Ozturk (TUR) arrived in Baku full of confidence and with the support of a large part of the public. A first big makikomi attempt against Khrystyna Homan (UKR) did not allow her to score but she never let go of her opponent's arm, dragging her into a big roll that she concluded with an immobilisation, a great classic of the heavier categories, which Ozturk exploited perfectly.
Final, Hilal Ozturk (TUR) vs Ruri Takahashi (JPN)

In the semi-final, Helena Vukovic (CRO) suffered the law of Ozturk in only eight seconds. This time she did not have to follow on the ground because her makikomi worked from the launch; ippon and little energy wasted!

At the bottom of the draw, Marit Kamps (NED) began her day well with a tactical victory over Sophio Somkhishvili (GEO) but the Dutchwoman lost in the next round held down by Ruri Takahashi (JPN) who was heading to the final.

The last women's final of the tournament saw Hilal Ozturk face Ruri Takahashi. Takahashi scored the first yuko with an o-soto-gari coming from afar. She continued on the floor to control her opponent and pin her down for ippon; simple and effective for another win for Japan and the first gold in a grand slam for Ruri Takahashi.

Bronze medal contest, Milica Zabic (SRB) vs Marit Kamps (NED)

The first match for a bronze medal was between Milica Zabic (SRB) and Marit Kamps (NED) was over rapidly. After Milica Zabic launched an o-soto-gari from too far away, Kamps just had to block and counter to drive her to the floor for ippon and the bronze medal.
