The fourth volume of the International Judo Federation and IJF Academy’s interdisciplinary journal, the ‘The Arts and Sciences of Judo’ (ASJ), is being written, edited and collated ready for publication in the coming months.

Sanda Corak, IJF EC member and ASJ Editor in Chief says, “Submissions so far have been related to all aspects of judo, including kinesiology, psychology, economy, marketing and management, history, arts, technology, communication sciences, medicine and many other related fields. The IJF Academy considers the ASJ an international platform for the presentation and dissemination of innovative research and scholarly works and for expressing opinions and views on the development of judo, delivering a significant contribution to the understanding of the theory and practice of judo. In this way ‘The Arts and Sciences of Judo’ serves as a reference within the education sector, but it also offers the possibility for the exchanging of ideas and keeping up with the latest developments in judo.”

The ASJ publishes academic papers (original scientific papers, preliminary communications, and review papers) and research notes, professional papers, and critical reviews on relevant topics. All submissions are read by the editor and two ASJ reviewers to ensure pieces meet the required standards, format and originality to be published as part of a body of work the IJF remains very proud of.

As a bi-annual publication, issues are published in June and in December of each year. It is an open access journal with no fees for publishing and so would like to invite researchers, whether at university or more generally within the judo community, to make contributions and publish their research. So many people in judo have creative and analytical thoughts about the sport and these ideas can be researched more formally to contribute to a wider evolution and understanding. The building of a bank of research is an important task and it will be a valuable resource for all judo practitioners and will help our sport to grow, for judo to progress all over the world.
