On 18th April, the Americas and Oceania came together in Lima to compete for the 2025 cadet continental titles. 15 nations were in attendance and incredibly, 11 of them won medals.

Although Brazil ran away with the top spot on the medal table, the spread of medals of all colours around the two continents is testament to the hard work being done at all levels and in all countries, regardless of means and expectation; for example, both French Polynesia and El Salvador had medallists for the first time at this event.

More than a decade ago El Salvador had their last medal at a continental championships and so this new medal shows that development has been happening behind the scenes and that the federation is working hard to take the country forward, open to new ideas and opportunities.

For French Polynesia, this is a first ever continental medal in any age category. Ra Imaru Holozet (PYF) won bronze in the +90 kg group while his teammate, Ambre Popoff placed 5th in the -48 kg category.
