The Pan-American Judo Confederation extra-ordinary Congress was held in Miami this past Feb 16th to the 19th of 2017. The purpose of this congress was to review the Pan-American Judo Confederation's statutes amendment and Countries designation for Pan American Championships and Pan American Opens in 2017 and 2018. Presidents of Federations from Argentina, Aruba, Bahamas, Barbados, Bolivia, Canada, Costa Rica, Chile, Cuba, Curaçao, Ecuador, Guadeloupe, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, México, Nicaragua, Panama, Peru, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Trinidad and Tobago and the USA attended the congress.

Chile, Mexico, Panama, Peru and Paraguay were candidates to host the Pan American Championships and Pan American Cups in 2017. The result from the voting was that Panama was chosen to be the country that will host the Pan American Senior, Veterans and Kata Championships in April 2017. Mexico will be the host for the Pan American Cadets and Junior Championship and Lima won the under 13 and under 15 Pan American Championships. Chile will host the Pan American Cup in 2017. In 2018 San Jose de Costa Rica will host the Pan American Senior, Veterans and Kata Championships, Buenos Aires the under 18 and under 21 Pan American Championships; Asuncion, Paraguay, the under 13 and under 15 Pan American Championships; and Tegucigalpa, Honduras, the Pan American Senior Cup. 

Mr. Marius Vizer attended the Congress along with Mr. Juan Carlos Barcos, the IJF Head Refereeing Director. Both of them thanked the Pan American Judo Confederation for inviting them. Mr. Marius  Vizer gave a strong message to the members of the Pan American Judo Confederation, which was to keep working hard on behalf of Judo, and always applying the Judo Values "Friendship, Honesty, Courtesy, Courage, Respect". Most importantly, was to work in peace as a Judo family.
